Wong Kun-hang ( born 28 August 1999), better known by the Mononymous person Hendery (Korean language: 헨드리) is a Macau people rapper, singer and dancer. He is a member of the South Korea boy group NCT (group), its Chinese sub-unit WayV and rotational sub-unit NCT U.[1][2]
Hendery was born on September 28, 1999 in Macau, China.[3] He has 3 older sisters. Hendery can speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean.[4] Before joining SM Entertainment, Hendery studied acting and wanted to become a comedian, but later on he found out that it wasn't quite for him.[5][6]
Hendery was scouted by a SM Entertainment staff while he was shopping. He immediately accepted the offer. On July 17, 2018, Hendery was introduced as a member of SM Rookies along with Yang Yang and Xiaojun.[7]
On December 31, 2018, Hendery was announced as a member of NCT fourth sub-unit WayV along with 6 other members, including Kun, Ten, Win Win, Lucas Wong|Lucas, Xiaojun and Yang Yang.[8][9][10] He is the lead rapper of WayV.[11]
On January 17, 2019, WayV made their official debut in China and released their first Digital EP "The Vision"[12] and the music video for the title track "Regular", which is a Chinese version of NCT 127's Regular.[13]
On May 9, 2019, WayV released their first mini album "Take Off"[14] and a music video for the title track with the same name
On October 29, 2019, WayV released their second mini album "Take Over the Moon|Take Over The Moon"[15][16] and a music video for the title track "Moonwalk".[17] Hendery and Yang Yang participated in writing two songs on album :"King of hearts" and "We go nanana".
On June 9, 2020, WayV released their first full album " Awaken the World"[18][19] and a music video for the title track "Turn Back Time". The Korean version of the song was later released on the 18th of June. Hendery participated in writing 3 songs on the album "Only Human", "Electric Hearts" and "Stand By Me". On July 29, 2020, WayV released a music video for the song "Bad Alive".[20][21][22][23][24]
On September 21, 2020, SM Entertainment announced the NCT 2020: Resonance project with the participation of all 23 members.[25][26][27]
On October 12, 2020, NCT released NCT Resonance Pt.1[28][29] in which Hendery participated in 2 songs, "Misfit" by NCT U and "Nectar" by WayV.[30][31]
On November 23, 2020, NCT released NCT Resonance Pt.2[32] in which Hendery participated in 5 songs: "Misfit", "Raise The Roof", "Work It", "All About You" by NCT U and "Nectar" by WayV.
On November 27, 2020, NCT released a music video for the song "Work It" featuring 7 members: Johnny, Yuta, Ten, Hendery, Jisung, Jungwoo, Jaemin.[33]
On March 10, 2021, WayV released their third mini album "Kick Back"[34][35] and a music video for the title song with the same name.[36][37] The album became the group's first number one album on Gaon Album Chart.[38]
In August 2021, Hendery and WayV member Lucas' new single Jalapeno[39][40] was delayed amid controversy among Lucas' personal life, for which NCT apologized [41][42][43]
