Hollis Read (August 26, 1802 - April 7, 1887) was a missionary, lecturer, pastor, and author in the United States. He wrote about religion, India, and Africa including the influential book The Negro Problem Solved, Or, Africa as She Was, as She Is, and as She Shall Be: Her Curse and Her Cure published in 1864.[1][2]

He was born in Newfane, Vermont and studied at Williams College and Princeton Seminary.[3]
