International relations

From Wikitia - Reading time: 1 min

It is the scientific study of relationships between sovereign countries that is known as international relations (IR), international affairs (IA), or international studies (IS). Globalization encompasses all activities between states, including war, diplomacy, trade and foreign policy, as well as relations with and among other international actors, such as intergovernmental organisations (IGOs), international non-governmental organisations (INGOs), international legal bodies, and multinational corporations, to name a few examples (MNCs).

A subfield of political science, international relations is commonly recognised to be a subfield of political science. International relations, on the other hand, leans heavily on the fields of international economics, international law, global history, and cultural anthropology. Even though international relations is generally considered a sub-field within political science departments in the United States, it is also recognised as an independent or interdisciplinary subject at certain academic institutions.
