Interpol

The International Criminal Police Organization, often known as Interpol, is a multilateral organisation that promotes international collaboration in law enforcement and crime prevention efforts. This international police organisation, with headquarters in Lyon, France, is the biggest in the world, with seven regional offices around the globe and a National Central Bureau in each of the 194 member countries.

At the inaugural International Criminal Police Congress in 1914, which brought together representatives from 24 nations to explore cooperation in law enforcement, Interpol was established. When it was established as the International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC) in September 1923, it assumed many of the responsibilities that it has now during the 1930s. Following its capture by the Nazis in 1938, the agency was largely rendered inactive until the conclusion of World War II. A new constitution and the name Interpol, which came from the organization's telegraphic address that had been in use since 1946, were approved in 1956 by the International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC).
