Iranian Americans are people who were born in the United States but have Iranian ancestry or possess dual citizenship in both the United States and Iran. Iranian Americans hold some of the highest levels of education of any other group in the United States. Throughout their history, they have been exceptionally successful in the fields of commerce, academics, science, the arts, and entertainment.

The majority of Iranian Americans immigrated in the United States after 1979, as a direct consequence of the Iranian Revolution and the overthrow of the Persian monarchy. More than forty percent of Iranian Americans settled in the state of California, more especially in the city of Los Angeles. As a result of their inability to go back to Iran, they have established a large number of different ethnic enclaves, such as the Tehrangeles group in Los Angeles. The Iranian American community has achieved a great deal of success, with many members going on to careers as doctors, engineers, lawyers, and businesspeople in the technology sector.

According to a report that was published in 2012 by the National Entity for Civil Registration, which is an organisation under the supervision of the Iranian Ministry of Interior, the United States is home to the greatest number of Iranians living outside of the nation. According to the most recent information available, there are 1,500,000 Iranians who were born in Iran but are now residing in the United States. These numbers were released in 2021 by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, this statistic only accounts for those who were born in Iran and later migrated to the United States. It does not take into account the number of Iranians who were born in the United States or members of other groups who have Iranian ancestry.
