James Williams Tyrrell (10 May 1863-16 January 1945) was an explorer and mine promoter. He was the brother of Joseph Burr Tyrrell. He was born in Weston, Ontario and died in Bartonville, Ontario[1] and was the son of William and Elizabeth Tyrrell. He joined the Geological Survey of Canada in 1883 and started working in the Lake of Woods region as a topographer. [2]
