Jetico Inc. Oy is a data-protection software company that is based in Espoo, Finland.[1] Jetico develops products that protect endpoint data, namely in the areas of data encryption and data erasure.[2] Jetico serves customers in the areas of national security, regulatory compliance and personal privacy.[3]

History[edit]

The team that become Jetico began developing encryption hardware in 1993. Two years later, the company was founded in Tampere, Finland.[4]

The first major software project the company launched was the encryption application BestCrypt, which started as a Command-line interface encryption utility for DOS. This was later developed for Windows 98 and subsequent Microsoft Windows.[5]

BestCrypt was followed by Jetico’s line of data erasure tools, namely BCWipe[6] and BCWipe Total WipeOut.[7]

Products[edit]

Jetico’s primary applications for data encryption are BestCrypt Container Encryption and BestCrypt Volume Encryption. BestCrypt Container Encryption is used to encrypt Computer file, while BestCrypt Volume Encryption is used to encrypt Hard disk drive.[8]

BCWipe and BCWipe Total WipeOut are Jetico’s applications for data erasure. BCWipe is used to delete files and folders, while BCWipe Total WipeOut is used to wipe hard drives.[9]

Other Jetico products include BestCrypt Suite[10], which combines data encryption with data deletion, and enterprise editions of their BestCrypt and BCWipe products.[11]
