Julie Han (hangul=한 쥴리; born March 29, 2000), known mononymously as Julie (쥴리) is an American singer-songwriter and rapper based in South Korea. She is the leader of the South Korean girl group Kiss of Life, formed by S2 Entertainment in July 2023.
On July 5, 2023, Julie released her first solo, Kitty Cat, as part of the group's first EP Kiss of Life.
Julie was on March 29, 2000 in Hawaii, United States. She lived there for thirteen years during which she pursued ballet. She moved to South Korea at the age of thirteen where she was a student at Def Dance Skool and Def Music Academy, through which she was selected as a trainee for The Black Label, a sub-unit of YG Entertainment.
Julie auditioned for The Black Label at the age of seventeen through Def Academy. She trained under the label for three years before moving to Swing Entertainment but soon parted ways with the label.
In December, 2022, Julie was seen alongside her future bandmates Natty, Belle, and two unknown people in a British documentary about K-pop trainees. It was alleged that they were to be a part of an upcoming girl group of S2 Entertainment. Julie auditioned for S2 Entertainment with a video of her singing Billie Eilish by Armani White.[1]
On December 27, 2023, S2 Entertainment announced the launch of a girl group in 2023, following which Julie was revealed as the third member of Kiss of Life on May 17, 2023.
Julie is positioned as the leader and the main rapper of Kiss of Life, which debuted on July 5, 2023 with their mini album of the same name. They also held a press showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, South Korea on the afternoon of the same day.
She released her first solo song on July 5, 2023 called Kitty Cat under their debut album alongside her bandmates who also released their solos in the same week.
On September 2023, S2 Entertainment announced the release of the group's second EP Born to be XX on November 8, 2023. The album was critically acclaimed with Carmen Chin writing for NME, describing the sophomore album as " a diamond in the rough" and Kim Do-heon of Zenerate, who ranked the album at number 6 for their list of The 15 Best K-pop Albums of 2023.
