Kalota is a small village of 1625 hectares in Khetri Tehsil in Jhunjhunu district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kalota depends on KHETRI, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 3.00% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Kalota is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Kalota's pin code is 333501[4], and village code is 00734800. The area of Kalota is segregated as 206 hectares irrigated area, 617 hectares unirrigated, the 58 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 180 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Kalota has One post office (Kalota B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Kalota has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Kalota is a census village in the district of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3475 and has total administration over 655 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Kalota has 451 children, 226 boys and 225 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 364 (10.47%) males constitute 177 (5.09%) of the population and females 187 (5.38%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 365 (10.50%) males constitute 189 (5.44%) of the population and females 176 (5.06%).

The workforce is 880 male, 764 female with 868 (52.8%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 721 males and 147 females. 379 males and 60 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 7 males. 776 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of KHETRI and Jhunjhunu to sell brick and make their living.
