Kanana is a small village of 2867 hectares in Pachpadra Tehsil in Barmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kanana depends on BALOTRA, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 739.29% of the total supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Kanana is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Kanana's pin code is 344027[4], and village code is 02150000. The area of Kanana is segregated as 739.29 hectares irrigated area, 1482.43 hectares unirrigated, the 8.33 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 636.58 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Kanana has One post office (Kanana B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Kanana has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Kanana is a census village in the district of Barmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 5668 and has total administration over 965 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Kanana has 1001 children, 504 boys and 497 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 1095 (19.32%) males constitute 545 (9.62%) of the population and females 550 (9.70%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 578 (10.20%) males constitute 304 (5.36%) of the population and females 274 (4.83%).

According to a census 2011 report, 2220 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1307 male, 913 female with 1190 (53.6%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1018 males and 172 females. 471 males and 49 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 77 male and 32 female agricultural labor. 1030 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of BALOTRA and Barmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
