Kanwas is a small village of 8273 hectares in Sangod Tehsil in Kota district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kanwas depends on SANGOD, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 101.12% of the total supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, One canal and Two springs. Kanwas is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Kanwas's pin code is 325602[3], and village code is 03852100. The area of Kanwas is segregated as 758.22 hectares irrigated area, 216.1 hectares unirrigated, the 113.08 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 545.1 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Kanwas has One post office (Kanwas S.O) and One Hundred Eighty Seven public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Kanwas has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Kanwas is a census village in the district of Kota, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 8011 and has total administration over 1575 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Kanwas has 1091 children, 582 boys and 509 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 2237 (27.92%) males constitute 1137 (14.19%) of the population and females 1100 (13.73%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 508 (6.34%) males constitute 277 (3.46%) of the population and females 231 (2.88%).

The workforce is 2016 male, 722 female with 1763 (64.39%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1495 males and 268 females. 237 males and 27 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 177 male and 61 female agricultural labor. 975 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of SANGOD and Kota to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
