Karthik Sharma (Kārtik śarmā / ಕಾರ್ತಿಕ್ ಶರ್ಮಾ) (born 12 Jan 1993) also known as Kaati is an Indian singer, actor, music director, music producer, and a voice actor primarily working in Kannada Cinema and Television^[1]. Although he started as a vocalist he gained popularity as a child actor known for national award winning movies like Thutturi and then going on to becoming the youngest music director in Sandalwood for the movie Baanaadi^[1][2][3]. Some of his most well received work includes composing title tracks and background music for television serials/reality shows like Putta Gowri Maduve, Kinnari, Dasa Purandara, Raamachari, Comedy Khiladigalu and films like Lanke^[4], Lambodara and Naanu Mathu Gunda.

Early & Personal life[edit]

Karthik was born in Bengaluru to Keshav Murthy, a bank employee and Gayathri Keshav, a Sugama Sangeetha teacher. He started singing on stage at the age of 1.5 and participated in television competitions which made way for his exposure in the Kannada Entertainment Industry. Karthik is an alumni of KM Music Conservatory and has done Visharat in Hindustani Sangeet as well as studied Carnatic Music.

Career[edit]

After Karthik started appearing frequently as a child performer, he was offered an acting role by actor-director couple Shruti & Mahendar, flagging off a start to his acting career in films and television. As a child artist Karthik acted alongside kannada stalwarts like Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Dr. Ambareesh, Ramesh Aravind, Puneeth Rajkumar, Shiva Rajkumar, and Upendra, among others. Having interest in the complete film industry he also practiced Cinematography for some kannada films for a brief bit.

Awards and honors[edit]

Karthik was awarded "Best Child Artist” for the film “Muthu” and received "Best TV Music Director" in Kannada for Colors TV 3 times in a row.
