Keriya is a small village of 2050 hectares in Mandal Tehsil in Bhilwara district, also known as the Textile City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Keriya depends on Asind, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, Two Wells supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Keriya is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Keriya's pin code is 311026[4], and village code is 02843300. The area of Keriya is segregated as 315.57 hectares irrigated area, 364.48 hectares unirrigated, the 1220.3 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 149.85 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Keriya has One post office (Keriya B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Keriya has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Keriya is a census village in the district of Bhilwara, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3018 and has total administration over 646 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Keriya has 443 children, 237 boys and 206 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 568 (18.82%) males constitute 274 (9.08%) of the population and females 294 (9.74%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 221 (7.32%) males constitute 101 (3.35%) of the population and females 120 (3.98%).

According to a census 2011 report, 1607 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 874 male, 733 female with 1292 (80.4%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 738 males and 554 females. 339 males and 300 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 178 male and 174 female agricultural labor. 315 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Asind and Bhilwara to sell earthen pot and make their living.
