Khoran is a small village of 1369 hectares in Garhi Tehsil in Banswara district, also known as City of Hundred Islands in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Khoran depends on Partapur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, One canal and One spring. Khoran is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Khoran's pin code is 327022[4], and village code is 03412700. The area of Khoran is segregated as 332 hectares irrigated area, 199 hectares unirrigated, the 510 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 289 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Khoran has One post office (Khodan B.O) and Twenty Five public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Khoran has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Khoran is a census village in the district of Banswara, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 5054 and has total administration over 898 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Khoran has 646 children, 344 boys and 302 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 296 (5.86%) males constitute 122 (2.41%) of the population and females 174 (3.44%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 2647 (52.37%) males constitute 1103 (21.82%) of the population and females 1544 (30.55%).

According to a census 2011 report, 2285 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1294 male, 991 female with 1657 (72.52%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1153 males and 504 females. 590 males and 161 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 20 male and 66 female agricultural labor. 628 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Partapur and Banswara to sell ghee and make their living.
