Khoren Mikayelyan also known as Mik Aelian (born October 11, 1988) is an Armenian guitar player. He is a co-founder and lead guitar player of band Eleven Green, Mik Aelian, Nairi, Scream of Silence. As a solo artist he's musical vision and style are a blend of traditional Armenian folk music and rock fusion.

Khoren has been recognized as the best guitar player at the Yamaha "E-Band Competition 2018" .[1][2]

In 2019 during the gala Rock Aid Armenia 30th anniversary Khoren was the winner of the "Iommi_Gibson_Mediamax Contest" [3][4]. Tony Iommi chose his performance to be the best and personally gifted Khoren a Gibson SG Guitar with his autograph.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Born in a musician's family. Khoren Mikayelyan's formal music education started on the violin at the age of six at the P.I.Tchaykovskiy Music School in Yerevan, Armenia.

At the age of 16 he picked up both the guitar and French horn.He began getting evolved in the local music scene as a guitarist, while at the same time completing his bachelor's degree in "French Horn Performance" at the Yerevan State Conservatory.

Personal Career and Bands[edit]

Eleven Green[edit]

In the year 2019 Khoren founded the band Eleven Green with singer-songwriter Nare Nikoyan. The same year the band did its first tour in Europe playing in Warsaw, Berlin, Cologne, Amsterdam, Brussels, Ourense and Madrid. During Covid-19 lockdown the band performed in the Italian Festival "Miniere Sonore" which took place online.[5]

Solo Career (Mik Aelian) Important Dates[edit]

In 2016 Khoren started his first solo project using the stage name Mik Aelian․

  • October 23, 2018 Mik Aelian released music video for his rearrangement of Komitas "Qeler tsoler"
  • Mik Aelian performed in an open air "Epic Eye" festival.[7]
  • Mik Aelian was a spatial guest in an open air rock concert for Youth Day in Vanadzor .
  • Performed in "Sevan music Fest" international festival.[8]
  • Mik Aelian had a tour in Armenia playing concerts in Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor along with Vomank band.
  • Mik Aelian performed in "Rock That Summer" along with such band as Elips.
  • Rehearsal Masterclass for students of Nexus Center for the Arts.[9]
  • March 26, 2018 Mik Aelian released music video "Yaro Nar"․
  • Participated in "Armenian Guitar Festival" at Sundukyan State Academic Theatre , sharing stage with such guitar players as Dave Martone, May Lian.

Nairi[edit]

Nairi [15] is an Armenian Heavy Metal band founded in 2007 by Khoren Mikayelyan and Artashes Darbinyan. During it's existence the band created their own style by mixing Armenian traditional melodies with heavy rock metal sounds. Nairi band released 1 studio album "Cross Stone"[16] and 3 singles "Mer Nure Mer Tunn E", "Jann E Havat" and "Genocide".[17]

Band had many performances not only in Armenia, but also in Georgia and Russia.

In 2014 the band was selected to perform with their song "Jann E Havat" in "Tsovits Tsov" international music contest which was held in Kremlin Hall Russia. Among jury was Grammy Awards winning musician Arto Tunçboyacıyan.

Scream Of Silence[edit]

In 2005 Khoren with his friends Vladimir Hovhannisyan and Sargis Hovakimyan founded his first Progressive Metal band "Scream Of Silence". Band performed in many local clubs and pubs as well as open air festivals.

In November 26, 2008 the band had an appearance in MetalFront Fest along with such bands as Melechesh, Arkona, Empyray .

In 2008 band recorded and released their first single called "Metal Fever"

In 2006 the band performed in the "Rock For Freedom" festival which was in Freedom Square, Yerevan.
