Kojo Yankson is a Ghanaian broadcast journalist with Joy FM and the host of the station's flagship, the Super Morning Show.[1]. He is also a media personality who makes appearances on their TV station JoyNews.

Early life and education[edit]

Kojo Yankson was born in Cape Coast to two educationalists – his mother a Fante teacher and his father a professor in zoology. He grew up as the only son among two sisters.[2][3]

Kojo Yankson received his basic education at the University of Cape Coast basic schools after which he attended St. Augustine's College. He completed his tertiary education in 2001 at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) where he studied Business Management Studies[4]. At UCC, he also did some work with the now defunct Radio Valco[5]. He then travelled to the United Kingdom to further his education in the University of Nottingham where he studied Estate Development.

Career[edit]

Kojo Yankson practised as an estate developer in Nottingham for a couple of years before returning to Ghana. On his return, he ventured into radio at ATL FM as the host of their morning show. After a couple of months at ATL FM, Kojo Yankson was poached by the Multimedia Group to become the host of the Joy FM Super Morning Show[4]. He aired his first episode on 7th April, 2014.

After a series of controversies, Kojo Yankson was taken off the Joy SMS[6] in February 2018 to join the team on Joy TV hosting the AM Show and occasionally appearing as a news anchor on JoyNews and the Pulse.[7]

However in May 2020, Kojo Yankson was brought back to radio as the host of the Super Morning Show.[8][9] Kojo Yankson's style is most marked by his signature introductory motivational "Messages from the Morning Man" for which he has written over 400 stories.
