Kotra is a small village of 547 hectares in Banswara Tehsil in Banswara district, also known as City of Hundred Islands in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kotra depends on Partapur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Kotra is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Kotra's pin code is 327001[4], and village code is 03420500. The area of Kotra is segregated as 87 hectares irrigated area, 137 hectares unirrigated, the 172 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 150 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Kotra has One post office (Kotra B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Kotra has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Kotra is a census village in the district of Banswara, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1788 and has total administration over 371 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Kotra has 231 children, 128 boys and 103 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 99 (5.54%) males constitute 52 (2.91%) of the population and females 47 (2.63%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 777 (43.46%) males constitute 414 (23.15%) of the population and females 363 (20.30%).

According to a census 2011 report, 789 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 494 male, 295 female with 389 (49.3%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 356 males and 33 females. 198 males and 6 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 9 male and 4 female agricultural labor. 400 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Partapur and Banswara to sell ghee and make their living.
