Kotra is a small village of 788 hectares in Beawar Tehsil in Ajmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kotra depends on Beawar, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Kotra is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Kotra's pin code is 305927[4], and village code is 02524400. The area of Kotra is segregated as 95 hectares irrigated area, 235 hectares unirrigated, the 258 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 199.97 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Kotra has One post office (Kotra B.O) and Eight public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Kotra has One bank and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Kotra is a census village in the district of Ajmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3019 and has total administration over 600 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Kotra has 509 children, 264 boys and 245 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 338 (11.20%) males constitute 168 (5.56%) of the population and females 170 (5.63%).

The workforce is 684 male, 504 female with 471 (39.65%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 396 males and 75 females. 186 males and 37 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 26 male and 5 female agricultural labor. 717 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Beawar and Ajmer to sell ghee and make their living.
