Langera is a small village of 1705 hectares in Barmer Tehsil in Barmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Langera depends on BARMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Langera is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Langera's pin code is 344001[4], and village code is 02217300. The area of Langera is segregated as 16.18 hectares irrigated area, 535.14 hectares unirrigated, the 633.47 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 515.7 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Langera has One post office (Langera B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Langera has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Langera is a census village in the district of Barmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1708 and has total administration over 266 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Langera has 295 children, 140 boys and 155 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 42 (2.46%) males constitute 24 (1.41%) of the population and females 18 (1.05%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 478 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 398 male, 80 female with 293 (61.3%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 270 males and 23 females. 5 males are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 124 male and 17 female agricultural labor. 185 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Barmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
