Lars Behrendt (born March 8, 1973) is a German entrepreneur, author, investor, and keynote speaker.[1] He is the founder of Granny&Smith Agency, a leading innovation agency based in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony and known for its Innoweek® method. Behrendt has gained recognition for his approach to offering Innovation as a Service and helping accelerate the process of building a company.[2]
Behrendt has over 15 years of experience as an innovation developer and enabler and is considered one of the leading global innovation experts in the country. He specializes in UX design, business consulting, industrial and interaction design. During his career, Behrendt has also worked with numerous renowned corporations including Fortune 500 companies, BMW, IBM, Telekom, Volkswagen, and others.[3]
Behrendt is the author of the best-selling book Get. Real. Innovation. Moreover, he is a renowned Global Keynote Speaker and often seen at leading tech conferences such as IFA and CEBIT.
Behrendt was born on March 8, 1973. After completing his high school education, he enrolled at the University of Applied Science in Bremen, where he studied European Product Engineering & Management with a specialization in Innovation Engineering & eBusiness. In 1990, Behrendt started his computer science studies at the University of Oldenburg.
In 2006, Behrendt established Granny&Smith as a creative engineering office. Since then, Behrendt and his team have supported over 50 startups to bring their ideas to market and establish their brands, as well as cooperating with Dax corporations and Fortune 500 companies. The company is best known for its Innoweek® method that helps develop, test, and market new business ideas in record time. Together with his Granny&Smith team, Behrendt has even developed their own innovations. And he has also worked with renowned companies such as IBM, Telekom, BMW, and Volkswagen.[4]
In 2018, Behrendt became a lecturer at Jacobs University in Bremen and a year later, started yet another entrepreneurial venture - INSTARIDE, which is based on a C2C model offering instant ride-hailing services.
Apart from that, Behrendt is the author of Get. Real. Innovation., an autobiographical book that became a bestseller. In his book, he gives insights on how to become innovative and why it is so difficult for so many people. Since 2008, he has also been investing private assets in selected start-ups, products, and patents.
Behrendt is an avid sports enthusiast with hobbies like extreme enduro, BMX riding, skateboarding, and mountain biking.
