Lawrence Patchett is a New Zealand novelist, short story writer[1] and editor[2]. His work has been widely published and he has been the recipient of writing residencies in New Zealand[3][4], including the Michael King Emerging Writer's Residency[5]. His book of short stories, I Got His Blood on Me, won the Best First Book award at the 2013 NZ Post Book Awards[6], and his debut novel, The Burning River, was published in 2019[7].
Lawrence Patchett was born in Canterbury, New Zealand. He studied English at the University of Canterbury and completed a Masters, and then a PhD, in Creative Writing at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, finishing in 2012[8]. He is a member of the Institute of Professional Editors Limited|Institute of Professional Editors[2] and the New Zealand Society of Authors. He lives in Ōtautahi Christchurch with his partner, Tina Makereti.
