An Internet Exchange Points usually abbreviated as IXP, also known as Peering Points are the physical infrastructure through which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) connect and exchange traffic. There are many IXP Associations that disclose the list of companies who are members of the associations and collectively make The Internet Exchange Federation (IX-F). The one of the main purposes of an IXP is to allow networks to interconnect directly (Shorter path), via the direct routes and traffic exchange, rather than through one or more third-party or outside public networks. As the result, users can benefit the direct route, connection, shorten path (node) and lower latency and performance.
