In India wildlife photography started with documentation of animals killed by Kings and Britishers, as it was difficult to capture and document live animals in their habitat due to slow lenses and low sensitivity of cameras. With the beginning of 1940, Madhaviah Krishnan started pioneering the black and white photographs of wildlife in India.
