Mahabar is a small village of 4951 hectares in Barmer Tehsil in Barmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Mahabar depends on BARMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Mahabar is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Well. Mahabar's pin code is 344001[4], and village code is 02220200. The area of Mahabar is segregated as 2972.02 hectares unirrigated, the 1794.14 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 185.21 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Mahabar has One post office (Mahabar B.O) and Two public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Mahabar has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Mahabar is a census village in the district of Barmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1976 and has total administration over 318 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Mahabar has 448 children, 222 boys and 226 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 538 (27.23%) males constitute 273 (13.82%) of the population and females 265 (13.41%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 46 (2.33%) males constitute 23 (1.16%) of the population and females 23 (1.16%).

The workforce is 591 male, 519 female with 438 (39.46%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 416 males and 22 females. 304 males and 5 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 4 male and 11 female agricultural labor. 672 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Barmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
