Marcus Crenshaw (born September 27, 1986), popularly known as Coolest CEO, is an African American sports agent, serial entrepreneur and a former pro-ball player. Crenshaw is best known for maximizing deals for his clients and building companies at a fast rate and selling them at a multiple. He has an estimated net worth of $6.8million dollars.He is recognized for establishing The Fam Sports Agency, a sports, entertainment, and marketing agency and founding the largest outlet for womens basketball, She Hoops Network, and selling it to media powerhouse Overtime.[1][2][3]

Crenshaw specializes in brand management, developing media strategy, business consulting, and other services for his clients. Prior to establishing The Fam Sports Agency, Crenshaw owned two other renowned firms: Hoop Cred and She Hoops Network.[4]

Early life and education[edit]

Crenshaw was born on September 27, 1986, in Detroit, Michigan. Growing up in a rather backward area, he dedicated himself from a young age to make ends meet and succeed in life. When he was 10 years old, Crenshaw organized, supplied, and managed his school store, learning early entrepreneurship skills.

Crenshaw was inclined towards sports from a young age. He grew up playing Basketball , Football, and Baseball. Crenshaw starred in Basketball at Mackenzie High School, becoming one of Michigan’s all-time leading scorers, averaging 29.8ppg as a junior and a state's best 11 APG as a senior. Crenshaw received more than 30 Division 1 scholarship offers. Crenshaw attended Cal State Fullerton after acquiring a full basketball scholarship, where he was awarded Big West conference 6th man of the year. During his time there, his college won the Big West championship for the first time in 30 years, earning a 2008 NCAA tournament appearance.

Career[edit]

Having had a successful career as a basketball player since his high school days, Crenshaw even played five years of professional basketball in Europe. After retiring from that, he decided to commence his entrepreneurial journey.[6]

In 2014, Crenshaw founded Hoop Cred - the first marketing agency specifically focused on WNBA players. Two years later, he created She Hoops Network via Instagram, with the aim to bring exposure to thousands of talented female hoopers across all ages and skill levels.[7] Within two years, under the leadership of Crenshaw, the company thrived, and then he sold it to Overtime which is funded by Amazon’s own Jeff Bezos, superstar Drake, and NBA superstar Kevin Durant.[8]

In 2020, Crenshaw established The Fam Agency, a leading sport, entertainment, and marketing agency. Since its inception, Crenshaw has worked with numerous brands and athletes to diversify their sales channels and create brand awareness programs. Within a year, he managed to sign with over 20 WNBA athletes, including Tiffany Hayes, Brittney Sykes, Monique Billings, Ariel Atkins, Stephanie Watts, Courtney Williams, Cheyenne Parker, Odyssey Sims, Tiffany Mitchell, and many others. He has also worked with multiple brands and firms such as Nature Herbs, an e-commerce store, Florida State University, First Class Lifestyle Entertainment LLC, a record company, and others.[9]

Under the leadership of Crenshaw, The Fam Sports Agency was listed amongst one of the fastest growing Sports agencies in the world in Yahoo Finance. Crenshaw was even nicknamed Coolest CEO by his employees because of his laid-back business acumen.[10]
