Matoonda is a small village of 1790 hectares in Bundi Tehsil in Bundi district, also known as a city of stepwells in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Matoonda depends on BUNDI, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Matoonda is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Matoonda's pin code is 323001[3], and village code is 02760600. The area of Matoonda is segregated as 1474.5 hectares irrigated area, 46.76 hectares unirrigated, the 89.22 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 154.97 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Matoonda has One post office (Matunda B.O) and Seventy public telephones. Matoonda has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Matoonda is a census village in the district of Bundi, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 5015 and has total administration over 965 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Matoonda has 666 children, 337 boys and 329 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 1431 (28.53%) males constitute 741 (14.78%) of the population and females 690 (13.76%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 73 (1.46%) males constitute 35 (0.70%) of the population and females 38 (0.76%).

According to a census 2011 report, 2503 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1473 male, 1030 female with 2084 (83.26%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1286 males and 798 females. 534 males and 288 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 294 male and 276 female agricultural labor. 419 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Bundi to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
