Modar is a small village of 437 hectares in Dungarpur Tehsil in Dungarpur district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Modar depends on Dungarpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 9.00% of the total supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Modar is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Modar's pin code is 314801[4], and village code is 03294900. The area of Modar is segregated as 50 hectares irrigated area, 154 hectares unirrigated, the 199 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 34 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Modar has One post office (Modar B.O). Modar has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Modar is a census village in the district of Dungarpur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 2149 and has total administration over 449 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Modar has 433 children, 220 boys and 213 girls.
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 1996 (92.88%) males constitute 1013 (47.14%) of the population and females 983 (45.74%).

The workforce is 538 male, 555 female with 841 (76.94%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 450 males and 391 females. 188 males and 72 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 182 male and 285 female agricultural labor. 252 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Dungarpur to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
