Naadu[1] is a 2023 Indian Tamil-Language Drama film written and directed by Engeyum Epodhum-fame M. Saravanan (film director) and produced by Chakra and Raj Sri Arch Media and Entertainment P(LTD). The film features Tharshan Thiyagarajah and Mahima Nambiar in the lead roles. While Singampuli, R.S. Shivaji, Aruldoss and Inba Ravikumar play other pivotal roles. The film has music composed by C. Sathya with cinematography by K.A. Sakthivel and editing by PK.

"Naadu" is scheduled to be released in theaters worldwide on 2023.

Production[edit]

In July 2022, Chakra and Raj announced that they would be collaborating with M. Saravanan on a new film[2], which is expected to be a commercial drama entertainer. The crew for this project is expected to be similar to the one that worked on the film "Engeyum Epodhum," which was of the same genre. Shortly after the announcement, M. Saravanan[3] confirmed that he would be working with the new producers, Chakra and Raj[2], under their home banner Sri Arch Media and Entertainment P(LTD).

After some time, the film's title was revealed as "Naadu,"[4] along with the announcement of the cast and crew. Tharshan Thiyagarajah[5], Mahima Nambiar, Singampuli, R.S. Shivaji, Aruldoss, and Inba Ravikumar were signed on to play roles in the film. The shooting commenced on September 2, 2022, in various locations of Kolli Hills. The entire shooting process lasted for approximately 30-50 days, and the film was shot in 4K resolution.

Soundtrack[edit]

The soundtrack for "Naadu" was composed by C. Sathya, collaborating with M. Saravanan (film director) and Chakra & Raj for the first time. The audio rights were acquired by Think Music. A single track, "Maavilai Maavilai Thorananga," was released on May 4, 2023, on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms. All lyrics were written by Viveka. Keys were programmed by Sai Abhyankkar, and the brass section featured Babu Shenai on trumpet and trombone, and Das on clarinet.

The percussion was handled by Vetri, Hariprasad, and Ranjith Magi, and the backing vocals were provided by RJ Bruse, Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Sudharshan Ajay, Honeyblaze, Kiran, Irfan Hyder. The voice recording took place at Soundtown Studios, engineered by Mithun. The song was mixed and mastered by Sai Shravanam at Resoundindia Studios, Chennai.

The first look of the Tamil film "Naadu" was released by Vijay Sethupathi, the renowned actor known for his roles in movies like "Rummy," "Pannaiyarum Padminiyum," "Master," "Kadaisi Vivasayi," and "Vikram." The event took place on October 11, 2022.
