New Degree Press (NDP) is an IBPA-recognized hybrid publisher and distributor dedicated to empowering authors.[1] The company is a community of fellow writers and authors that aids in the writing, branding, promotion, and distribution of your book. NDP accepts and publishes genre fiction, creative nonfiction, memoirs, and poetry. The book publishing company has an award-winning editorial team that has a decade of experience in publishing, writing, production, design, and marketing.[2]
New Degree Press was founded in 2016 by a group of authors and writers as a platform for creators and indie authors in the growing "Author as Owner" movement. To date, NDP has worked with more than 2,000 authors, many of whom are recognised in the media and press, including Newsweek, The Washington Post, USA Today, and dozens of other media outlets and publications.[3] As of 2022, more than seventy-seven authors published by New Degree Press have been recognized as winners or finalists for national and international book awards.
Established and supported by a board of established authors and publishing innovators including Shane Mac, founder of Logos Labs, Daniel Houghton, former CEO of Lonely Planet, Adam Brotman, former Chief Digital Officer of Starbucks, Robert Stephen, founder of Geek Squad, Chegg Executive Megan O’Connor, Georgetown Professor Eric Koester, and others, NDP has issued 1,540 titles to date. The company is the publishing arm of Manuscripts, social venture named by Inc. magazine as the fifth fastest growing private education company of 2021.[4]
New Degree Press offers a variety of programs for all aspiring authors to help them market their books better. The Book Writing Accelerator Program helps authors develop a first draft manuscript over a five-month timeline offered each year in April, August, and December. The NDP also provides community-powered publishing and promotion programs for authors, offered every March, July, and November.
The process is grounded in an educational pedagogy of creation-based learning. More than 1,000 first-time authors have gone through the programs and produced a publishable manuscript, four of them winning national book awards.
New Degree Press also has an active alumni network and a post-launch community of 800+ authors who support budding authors after they publish. NDP’s publishing model starts with a presale campaign designed to help authors build an audience and offset production costs, so that they are profitable when they publish.
New Degree Press also provides a platform for all aspiring authors to broadcast their stories through blogs and the Creator Community Podcast. The NDP podcast gives first-time authors an opportunity to talk about their books and drive valuable outcomes.
