New York Stock Exchange

An American stock market, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE, sometimes known as "The Big Board") is located in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan in the borough of New York City. According to the market capitalisation of its listed businesses, which stood at $30,1 trillion US dollars as of February 2018, it is by far the biggest stock exchange in the world. The daily value of trade averaged around $169 billion in the United States in 2013. The New York Stock Exchange Building, which is located at 11 Wall Street and 18 Broad Street, is a National Historic Landmark and is home to the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. In February of 2007, an additional trading room that was located at 30 Broad Street was shut down.

Intercontinental Exchange, an American holding firm, is the owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), which it also lists (NYSE: ICE). Prior to then, it was a component of NYSE Euronext (NYX), which was established in 2007 as a result of the merger between the NYSE and Euronext.

George B. Post was responsible for the design of the main New York Stock Exchange Building, which was constructed in 1903 and is located at 18 Broad Street between the corners of Wall Street and Exchange Place. Trowbridge & Livingston were the architects behind the next building at 11 Wall Street, which was finished in 1922 and was built in a similar style. Both of the structures were honoured with the title of National Historic Landmark in the year 1978. In addition, 18 Broad Street has been classified as a landmark by the city of New York.
