Nicola Hopewell (Born 5th September 1991) is an British professional boxer who currently holds the Professional Boxing Council (PBC)[1] International title and World Boxing League (WBL)[2] European title. As an amateur Nicola won a number of titles including the National Amateur Development Championship, East Midlands Flyweight title belt and the Central England Flyweight title along with a number of gold and silver medals in a number of tournaments.
Nicola grew up in Worksop in Nottinghamshire and is an only child. From the age of 5-17 she danced - she took exams in Latin, ballroom, country, freestyle and street dance achieving a number of medals and trophies.
Nicola's amateur boxing record was 23 wins 9 losses from 2014-2019. She won a number of titles including the National Amateur Development Championship[3] at Flyweight, East Midlands Flyweight title belt and the Central England Flyweight title along with a number of gold and silver medals in a number of tournaments. She took part in the elite national championships in 2016 but was defeated by commonwealth gold medalist Lisa Whiteside.
Nicola is licened British & Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA)professional female boxer[4]and made her debut 7th March 2020 under Boyles Pro Boxing[5] winning Ghanas Anita Addy by 2nd round stoppage in Barrow in Furness winning the PBC international silver title. Nicola had her 2nd fight on 4th September 2020 behind closed doors making her 1st tv appearance on FITE TV.[6] In 2021 Hopewell’s been very busy. One 24th April 2021 she headlines an all female show behind closed doors live on FITE.tv defeating York boxer Natasha Boyes in the 2nd round. Her 4rd 5 was in Kent against Spanish opponent Ivette García winning by stoppage 1.56 of round 6. Her 5th fight was against irelands Cara MacLochlainn her first fight to go the distance, after 8 round Nicola won the WBL European title.[7] Nicola 6th fight was in her hometown of Worksop scheduled against Nigerian Mary Abbey however Natasha Boyes stepped in as a later replacement. This was the 3rd time Hopewell and Boyes have met in the pro game, Hopewell took the win with a round 3 stoppage.
Nicola lives in Worksop working full time at a hardware retailer as an assistant manager. While working at the retailer Nicola had the opportunity to do an apprenticeship, she passed an apprenticeship in Food and Nutrition in 2018 which now helps with her boxing diet.
