Paul Joseph Smith (born 1975) is a British Composer[1]
Paul Joseph Smith was raised on a Council Estate in the Eastern District of Northampton, in a single Parent Family, after being born in London. Paul Went to a local State School where he first showed an interest in Music. Playing Piano, Violin and percussion all by Ear, never learning formal Music Theory or how to read Music[2].
Paul’s first Music connection was with the Hip Hop Sound of New York, Brooklyn and Queens, with influences like Just-Ice|Just-ice and KRS-One.
After Leaving school Paul Joseph Smith worked for a number of years at British Timken Company|Timken, but producing furiously in his spare time, created a Volume of Electronic Music, influenced by Aphex Twin|Aphextwin and other Electronica Composers. This lead to early releases with Planet Dog Records|Planet Dog Records, Rumour Records and later 70 Track released through Ministry of Sound under a huge amount of Pseudonyms.[3]
After being made redundant from Timken, Paul steadily built on his Electronic Music Catalogue, with Multiply releases on Tony De Vit’s Label TDV, Tidy Trax, Tripoli and several Chillout and Urban Releases with Ministry of Sound[4]. One of these Tracks on a well received Ministry of Sound Chillout Album was picked up and synced extensively in a series of Ray Mears Heroes of telemark|Hero’s of the Telemark. This sync proved a pivotal moment and led to Paul Joseph Smith’s Main career as a Composer for Television[5] Film and Advertising . Over the next 15 years Paul created 200 Tracks for Universal Production Music[6], 50 Tracks for EMI Production Music, more for DeWolfe, Nine Lives, Warner Production Music and Sky TV.[7][8]
