Peter Williams (born 12 March 1954 in Colwyn Bay) is a former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He has been a professional goalkeeping coach for over 25 years.[1]
Williams started out at Llandudno Junction, Llandudno and Conwy. He played in the Rhyl team that won the Welsh Amateur Cup in 1973.[2]
He was then signed by Bobby Charlton at Preston North End training with the likes of Nobby Stiles, Francis Burns, Mark Lawrenson, David Sadler and Tony Morley.
Unable to make an impact on the first team he moved to Telford United before Shifnal Town gave him his first real opportunity to coach.
Williams has coached at a number of Premier League and Football League clubs including Sunderland, Preston North End, Nottingham Forest and Derby County.
He worked with Billy Davies at Derby County F.C.[3] Preston North End F.C. and Nottingham Forest[4]
Williams has worked closely with a number of recognised goalkeepers such as Andrew Longergan[5] and Mark Schwarzer.
