The Philippines, formally the Republic of the Philippines, is an archipelagic nation in Southeast Asia that is made up of hundreds of thousands of islands. It is located in the western Pacific Ocean and comprises of about 7,640 islands, which are generally classified into three major geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
