Poland, formally the Republic of Poland, is a nation in Central Europe that borders the Baltic Sea. It is split into 16 administrative provinces, which have a total land area of 312,696 km2 (120,733 sq mi). It has a seasonal climate that is mostly moderate. In terms of population, Poland is the fifth-most populated member state of the European Union, with approximately 38.5 million inhabitants. Warsaw is the nation's capital and biggest city, as well as its economic centre. Kraków, ód, Wroclaw, Pozna, Gdask, and Szczecin are among the other important cities in Poland.

Poland's topologically diverse territory runs from the Baltic Sea beaches in the north to the Sudetes and Carpathian Mountains in the south, with the Baltic Sea as its northern border. Lithuania and Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast) border the nation to the northeast, Belarus and Ukraine border the country to the east, Slovakia and the Czech Republic border the country to the south, and Germany borders the country to the west.

Poland is a developed market with a middle-class population and a middle-class economy. It has the sixth-largest nominal GDP in the European Union and the fifth-largest GDP in the European Union, respectively (PPP). This country has very high living standards and levels of economic freedom, in addition to providing free university education and a universal health care system. There are 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the nation, 15 of which are cultural in nature. Poland is a part of the Schengen Area, the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Nations, NATO, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Three Seas Initiative, and the Visegrád Group of countries.
