Poonas is a small village of 768 hectares in Degana Tehsil in Nagaur district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Poonas depends on Kuchera, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 20.90% of the total supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Poonas is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Poonas's pin code is 341514[4], and village code is 01847100. The area of Poonas is segregated as 161.35 hectares irrigated area, 546.41 hectares unirrigated, the 39.05 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 20.95 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Poonas has One post office (Punas B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Poonas has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Poonas is a census village in the district of Nagaur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1246 and has total administration over 245 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Poonas has 172 children, 79 boys and 93 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 180 (14.45%) males constitute 89 (7.14%) of the population and females 91 (7.30%).

The workforce is 354 male, 360 female with 710 (99.44%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 353 males and 357 females. 163 males and 160 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 172 male and 196 female agricultural labor. 4 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Kuchera and Nagaur to sell ghee and make their living.
