Quinn DeVeaux (born September 1976) is an American singer songwriter based in the Bay Area.[1] [2] He is known for his blue beat soul music,[2] which contains elements of soul, blues, folk, country, and rock.[2] [3] His influences are described as including soul and blues legends like Ray Charles, Muddy Waters, and Sam Cooke.[4]
DeVeaux grew up in Gary, Indiana, where his respective grandmothers' Baptist and Jehova's Witness religious convictions led to his spending his childhood singing in church.[5] He developed his interests in blues and rock music during college at Evergreen, which he graduated from in 2001.[5] After a brief stint in Los Angeles, the departure from which was the inspiration for his song "Left This Town", he settled in the Bay Area, where he has been based ever since.
