Rachel Edwards (born on 25th December 1973) is a British author based in Oxfordshire. She is represented by Hardman & Swainson and Fourth Estate, HarperCollins UK.
Edwards was born in Truro and raised in the UK by her mother, a Jamaican nurse, and father, a Nigerian doctor..[1] She is an alumna of King’s College London[1][2] where she read French with English BA (Hons).[1][2][3]
She won an Arts Council national award for her fiction writing, which included mentoring by Catherine Johnson (novelist), and worked as a freelance writer for over 12 years.[4] Her articles feature in the national press, including The Guardian[5], [6]The Sunday Times[7], Grazia[8], Red (magazine) and Marie Claire.
Fourth Estate gained publishing rights to Edwards' debut novel Darling, which was published in May 2018. The novel has been described as 'the first Brexit thriller',[9] and has garnered praise in the national media[10][11] and from many other authors including Bernardine Evaristo [12][13]and Adele Parks.[14] Edwards, wrote one of the lead columns for the Sunday Times Magazine during summer 2020 and she is a regular guest at literary festivals and on BBC radio[15][16]. During summer 2020, Edwards wrote the lead column for the Sunday Times Magazine. Her second novel, Lucky, is to be published in June 2021 by Fourth Estate, an imprint of HarperCollins UK.
She lives in Oxfordshire with her husband, Peter.
