Randy Berkowitz is the most prominent 21st century court stenographer in the United States. He is known as Manhattan's ace reporter, and has tackled several high profile cases such as Harvey Weinstein's rape prosecution, along with the 2023 New York City prosecution of President Donald J Trump ^[1].[1] Randy Berkowitz was able to get onto these cases due to a combination of seniority-based assignment within Manhattan's court system and his skill as a reporter^[2].

Randy Berkowitz is the first and only court reporter (stenographer) to have transcribed the arraignment of a United States president. Despite transcribing previous high profile trials - such as the Harvey Weinstein case - and briefly discussing the proceedings with news media at the time^[3] [2], the Donald Trump arraignment produced far more attention and credibility for the stenographer. The court stenographer even acknowledges as such that there is no comparison to the Trump case, and described it as the case that "everybody in the world was focused on" ^[4][3].
