Rasta is a small village of 1891 hectares in Simalwara Tehsil in Dungarpur district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Rasta depends on Dungarpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 190.00% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Rasta is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Rasta's pin code is 314403[4], and village code is 03360600. The area of Rasta is segregated as 445 hectares irrigated area, 608 hectares unirrigated, the 368 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 470 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Rasta has One post office (Rasta B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Rasta has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Rasta is a census village in the district of Dungarpur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 4506 and has total administration over 932 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Rasta has 888 children, 462 boys and 426 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 220 (4.88%) males constitute 103 (2.29%) of the population and females 117 (2.60%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 4065 (90.21%) males constitute 2079 (46.14%) of the population and females 1986 (44.07%).

According to a census 2011 report, 2457 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1234 male, 1223 female with 783 (31.87%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 627 males and 156 females. 556 males and 82 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 12 male and 47 female agricultural labor. 1674 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Dungarpur to sell floor and make their living.
