    RAVIKANT TUPKAR is a prominent politician and movement leader in Maharashtra. He is originally from Buldhana district. He is the state leader of a farmer’s movement called Swabhimani Shetkar Sangathan.[1]. He was the president of the Maharashtra State Textile Corporation [2]. He held the rank of Minister of State[1]. He is known as a leader who raise his voice on the issues of all the common people, farmers and laborers[3][4][5]. He is famous for his scholarly, eloquent and aggressive speeches and has a special craze among the youth[3][6][7]. He has done many agitations on the issues of students, youth, farmers and laborers[5][8] and for that he has been jailed many times[9][10]. Along with political field, they are also involved in social, cultural, art and sports fields[11]

    Political career[edit]

    At the age of 18 years, he was influenced by the speeches and ideology set by the Late farmer leader Sharad Anantrao Joshi. Soon he decided to join the farmer’s movement. He worked for a couple of years in the Shetkari Sanghatana (farmers' Organisation) thereafter he joined Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtana . Soon he was appointed as the Regional President of the Swabhimani Shetkar Sangathan Yuva Aghadi[1]. In the year 2015, he was appointed as a President of Maharashtra State Textile Corporation by the then Government[2]. He was given the status of State Minister[2]. However when he found that the then Government is not serious about the problems and situation of farmers he immediately in the year 2017 tendered the resignation of said chair.

    On the issues of farmers, youth and students, he did many aggressive agitations in Maharashtra[3].

    In 2021, his hunger strike for soybean-cotton price hike became popular all over the country and due to this the farmers got a big justice by getting the price hike.[12].He is seen as the leader of soybean-cotton producers in Maharashtra[6]
