Ravindra Kumar Jain (Born: 15 July 1964) is an Indian civil engineer and technocrat. He is currently serving as the Managing Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. Born in Jaipur, Jain has made significant contributions to the development of rail infrastructure in India throughout his distinguished career.

He further pursued his academic endeavors by obtaining a Master of Technology degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Roorkee (now Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee) in 1988.

Jain is a distinguished officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) of the 1986 batch. Over the years, he has held various key positions within the Indian Railways, showcasing his expertise and leadership skills.

Contributions to DFCCIL

Under Jain's leadership as Managing Director, DFCCIL has witnessed remarkable progress in the execution of one of India's largest rail infrastructure projects. His tenure has been marked by the successful commissioning of more than 90% of Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs), comprising over 2500 kilometers of double-line broad gauge electrified tracks with automatic signaling. This significant achievement has propelled the project towards completion, with over 95% of the project targeted for commissioning by March 2024.

Achievements in Previous Roles in Indian Railways

Prior to his role at DFCCIL, Jain served as the Divisional Railway Manager of Samastipur in the East Central Railway zone. During his tenure, he spearheaded initiatives to enhance the aesthetics and cleanliness of railway stations, notably popularizing Mithila paintings at the Madhubani Station and Bihar Sampark Kranti train. His efforts led to significant improvements in station cleanliness, with Madhubani Station ascending to the third cleanest station in the Indian Railways network, earning him special recognition at the ministerial level.

Jain's contributions extend beyond station management; he was recognized as an 'Outstanding DRM' in 2018 for his efforts in ensuring the safety of railway crossings by manning numerous unmanned level crossings within a stringent time frame.

Jain's professional journey includes international exposure, having led a team to study track maintenance practices in Japanese railways at Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka in 2019. He has also participated in various international training programs, including an Executive Leadership Program at Bocconi Business School in Milan, Italy, and a training program on International Contracts organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Tokyo.

Throughout his career, Jain has received numerous accolades for his exemplary service and contributions to the field of civil engineering and railway administration. His achievements include being felicitated with a 'Letter of Appreciation' by the Railway Board for his role in the Surendranagar-Pipavav Port Gauge Conversion-cum-new line project and receiving the 'General Manager's Medal' and additional letters of appreciation for meritorious work on various occasions. In Jan 2024, he was awarded as Distinguished Alumni award by National Institute of Technology, Jaipur.
