Sakariya is a small village of 4211 hectares in Pokaran Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sakariya depends on POKARAN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, One canal and Two springs. Sakariya is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Sakariya's pin code is 345021[4], and village code is 02047200. The area of Sakariya is segregated as 810.04 hectares irrigated area, 4.04 hectares unirrigated, the 2781.65 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 344.19 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Sakariya has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Sakariya is a census village in the district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1148 and has total administration over 201 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Sakariya has 210 children, 129 boys and 81 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 43 (3.75%) males constitute 19 (1.66%) of the population and females 24 (2.09%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 8 (0.70%) males constitute 3 (0.26%) of the population and females 5 (0.44%).

According to a census 2011 report, 449 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 309 male, 140 female with 405 (90.2%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 288 males and 117 females. 237 males and 107 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 2 male and 2 female agricultural labor. 44 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of POKARAN and Jaisalmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
