Salem Wolves is a rock band from Boston, Mass. Led by songwriter and frontman Gray Bouchard, Salem Wolves have been nominated for several Boston Music Awards[1], including New Artist of the Year in 2016, Song of the Year in 2018 (“Shake”), Rock Artist of the Year in 2020 and 2021, and 617Session Song of the Year in 2021 ("Paraffin").

Bouchard is the nephew of founding Blue Öyster Cult members Joe Bouchard and Albert Bouchard.[2]

Salem Wolves have been featured on WCVB’s Chronicle, as well as Boston.com, Boston Herald, Impose Magazine, Vanyaland, Allston Pudding, Worcester Telegram & Gazette, WBUR The ARTery, Boston Magazine, and others. In January 2019, Down The Road Beer Co. and radio station indie617 gave Salem Wolves their own beer, the Salem Wolves IPA[3].

Salem Wolves debuted in 2015 with EP Black Books.[4][5] The EP was played heavily by Boston radio station WZLX 100.7 FM[6] and featured in Vanyaland.[7] Los Angeles-based Impose Magazine also profiled the band in a review of the EP.[8]

The band recorded a pair of songs at the Converse Rubber Tracks[9] studio in December with producer Dave Minehan (The Neighborhoods, The Replacements), around the same time their debut EP landed on Bishop & Rook’s top records of 2015[10], and Vanyaland’s year in review coverage[11].

In 2016 the band played the Rock 'n' Roll Rumble[12], winning their preliminary night and passing along to the semi-finals.[13] Also in 2016, the band played the Boston Calling Block Party series in Boston[14], hosted by Boston Calling Music Festival. That same year, they appeared on WCVB’s Chronicle segment about Boston musicians[15].

Salem Wolves released sophomore album Shake in summer 2018[16]. Recorded with Chris Johnson of Deafheaven, it received praise from local and national publications.[17] [18] The album’s title track scored a “Song of the Year” nomination at the 2018 Boston Music Awards[19].

In 2020 Salem Wolves released a new single called “Titanium,” the first offering from their Never Die!!! EP.[20]. A video for “Turn To Gold”, illustrated by Dallas Conte (The Anti-Queens), was released in June 2021.
