Samuel Dewey is an American lawyer that specializes in white-collar investigations, regulatory compliance and litigation, and complex public policy matters.[1] Dewey's proficiency includes consulting, congressional investigations,[2] litigation, lecturing, risk management, regulatory compliance, and litigation.

Dewey served as the Senior Counsel in charge of Oversight and Investigations with the U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Committee. He has also served as a Senior Advisor with the United States Agency for Global Media. Dewey has gained recognition during his time as a Chief Investigator and Counsel with the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging has been recognized and featured in local media outlets.

Dewey has been featured in international media outlets as an expert in the field. He is a frequent commentator on Congressional Investigations on national network news.[3] Dewey is admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

In 2006, Dewey graduated from summa cum laude from Brandeis University and received his bachelor's in Political Science and Government. Dewey proceeded to Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. In 2009, Dewey earned his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Sam Dewey was a Senior Editor of Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy and an Executive Board Member at Harvard Federalist Society.[4]

Career[edit]

In 2009, Dewey started working as Associate Attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. in the next six years. He represented corporations and individuals in many Executive Branch and Congressional investigations. Dewey litigated numerous white-collar and regular cases. In addition, he worked on False Claims Act cases, complex antitrust issues, and overlapping criminal and civil investigations.[5]

In 2015, Dewey worked as Chief Investigator and Counsel at the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging. He investigated price increases on decades-old off-patent drugs, scams targeting senior citizens, and FDA regulation of drug compounding.[6]

In 2017, He was appointed as Senior Counsel and lead staffer for the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee at the U.S. House of Reps Financial Services Committee. He managed a team of law clerks, staff assistants, and experienced litigators in this position.

In December 2018, Dewey started working at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Washington D.C. Metro Area. He successfully represented a major e-cigarette manufacturer and Blue Network insurer in wide-ranging House Energy and Commerce investigations.

In 2020, Mr. Dewey started working as Senior Advisor at the United States Agency for Global Media USAGM. He advised USAGM's Chief Executive Officer and other senior staff on complex regulatory and legal questions.
