Sawaniya is a small village of 515 hectares in Mavli Tehsil in Udaipur district, also called 'the city of lakes' set amidst the Aravalli Ranges in the state of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sawaniya depends on Fatehnagar, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 12.00% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Sawaniya is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Sawaniya's pin code is 313203[4], and village code is 03059000. The area of Sawaniya is segregated as 28 hectares irrigated area, 296 hectares unirrigated, the 131.52 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 59 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Sawaniya is a census village in the district of Udaipur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1436 and has total administration over 291 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Scheduled caste counts for 104 (7.24%) males constitute 52 (3.62%) of the population and females 52 (3.62%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 471 (32.80%) males constitute 233 (16.23%) of the population and females 238 (16.57%).

The workforce is 370 male, 199 female with 501 (88.05%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 354 males and 147 females. 142 males and 52 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 3 male and 6 female agricultural labor. 68 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Fatehnagar and Udaipur to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
