Scott Seiss (born March 15, 1994) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and viral TikToker who is best known for his 'Angry IKEA Guy' TikTok videos. They are based partly on his experience as a customer service employee at an IKEA.[1]
Seiss was born in Dundalk, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore, in 1994. His father was absent in his life, and so he grew up with his mother and sister.[1] Seiss was a graduate of Eastern Technical High School in Essex and the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Seiss's TikTok videos have attracted famous people such as LeBron James, and Patton Oswalt.
Seiss had worked at an IKEA call center from 2016 to 2019, which gave him the inspiration for the videos.[2] He has opened for comedians such as Josh Wolf, Roy Wood Jr., and Bo Burnham, and is based in New York.[1] Seiss's TikTok videos revolve around him posing as both an irritated retail worker, and a customer who is upset (colloquially known as "Karen (slang)|Karens"). The customer, who yells out something that shows that they are upset at the store (what makes the customer upset is not normally shown). The employee retaliates with a snarky remark.[2]
In 2021, Seiss was cast in the movie Cocaine Bear, directed by Elizabeth Banks.[3]
