Sean Lane is an American Information technology and entrepreneur. He is known for being the co-founder and CEO of Olive, a healthcare technology automation company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Lane grew up in Ohio and is a graduate of Miami University. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate degree in Public Service from the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College.[2]

Career[edit]

Lane began his career in the military as an intelligence officer in the US Air Force working at the National Security Agency. He served five tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq before founding Battlefield Telecommunications Systems (BTS) in 2011, where he developed a product used for military field intelligence.[3]

Lane returned to his hometown in 2012, where he discovered that the broken healthcare system was leading to the issue of prescription drug abuse. With a focus to repair the broken healthcare system in the US, he created a connected enterprise system that could share patient information within the system and automate the manual tasks done by healthcare’s front-line workers. This work became the foundation of his company CrossChx,[4] which later rebranded as Olive.[5] He has helped the company raise a total of $832 million in financing since March 2020, and $902 million since the company’s inception in 2012, bringing the valuation of the company to $4 billion as of July 2021.[6]

Lane is also a co-founder of Betamore, a Baltimore-based co-working, accelerator and creative education company,[3] and Circulo, Inc., a Medicaid-managed care company.[7] He also serves on the Board of Directors of OmniScience Technology Partners.[2]
