Sean Wat Jianwen is a Singaporean one-star rear-admiral who has been serving as Chief of Navy since 2023.[2][3]

Education[edit]

Wat was awarded the President’s Scholarship and the Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholarship, to studying at Stanford University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Philosophy respectively.[4]

Military career[edit]

Wat enlisted into the SAF in 2002.[2] He was Commanding Officer of the frigate RSS Supreme and subsequently Commanding Officer of the Frigate Squadron.[3] He was also Director of the Defence Policy Office.[3]

Prior to his appointment as Chief of Navy, Wat was the Navy's Fleet Commander since Jul 2022.[1]
