Senda Athletics is a soccer/football & futsal gear company that started in 2010 by Santiago Halty that is based in Berkeley, California.[1] The company was started as a project for the Haas School of Business Plan Competition in Berkeley and was a finalist in the competition.[2] It was also a finalist for the MillerCoors Urban Entrepreneurs Series (MUES) Business Plan competition in 2012 and the Hitachi Foundation Young Entrepreneur Program in 2013.[3][4]

From its inception, Senda Athletics has prioritized that its products are all Fairtrade certification, in an effort to disrupt the industry and ensure product quality. In addition, its social mission is to support and provide equipment to nonprofit organizations, such as Street Soccer USA and Soccer Without Borders, that use soccer to improve their communities.[5][6][7] The company became a certified B Corporation (certification) in 2012.[8]

Senda Athletics released their first futsal ball, the Rio Training Futsal ball, during the 2012 season. In 2014, it kickstarted a partnership with US Youth Futsal to release the Recife Official USYF Futsal Ball and the Bahia Official USYF Match Futsal Ball.[9] After Senda Athletics CEO Santiago Halty sent a tweet suggesting that fair trade soccer and futsal balls deserved consideration to be featured in its Made to Matter collection, Senda balls were made available for sale at Target Corporation in 2015.[10][11]

In 2018, Senda Athletics became an official partner of a professional soccer club, Oakland Roots SC, which plays in the National Independent Soccer Association.[12]

Following its success in the futsal ball market, the company announced the launch of its first futsal shoe, the USHUAIA PRO, through a Kickstarter campaign on September 22nd, 2019.[13]
